Egypt is known for its pyramids, ancient ruins and other glories from it’s pharonic past. Most people are unaware of Egypt’s rich Christian heritage. The Coptic Egyptians and their history are often overlooked in the tourism guides. This vital part of Egyptian tradition and religious sites represent the world’s first Christians with their customs and rituals preserved as a fascinating window to those early days.
Join us for a journey to that era through a lecture by Egypt’s foremost authority on Coptic heritage.
Dr. Shaza Gamal Ismail is in the US on a Fulbright Scholarship at Temple University in Philadelphia. She is a professor at the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University in Cairo and is an active member of the International Association of Coptic Studies (IACS) and the Association of the Preservation of Egyptian Cultural Heritage. She’s a regular lecturer at Egypt’s prestigious Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management and is member of the American Research Center in Egypt.
