Message from EAS Board

From Your Board of Directors to All EAS members

It is with great regret to inform you that one of the EAS Board Members, Mrs. Tara Zaafran, Treasurer/Secretary has resigned her position due to personal reasons. We are proud of the wonderful and excellent effort Tara has contributed to the Society. She is dedicated, energetic, and represents the spirit of the new Egyptian American Generation that we all aspire to be associated with. May Allah accept all her efforts and bless her and her family.

Based on our bylaws, we will be electing a permanent replacement for Mrs. Tara during the next EAS meeting. We are now asking for nominations from our members to the position of Treasurer/Secretary through the End of the Board’s Term (December 2008). We are encouraging all our members who have the time, experience, and desire to serve our community, to respond to this email and come forward for the next interim election in December 2007.

In the interim and to ensure a smooth transition of the EAS affairs, we have asked one of our community members Mr. Hani Elshahawi to serve as Treasurer/Secretary for the Society. Hani is a graduate of The American University of Cairo (AUC). Hani has more than twenty years in the Oil & Gas Industry. He has traveled/worked globally, and recently settled at Houston. Hani works for Shell International E&P as a Global Advisors in testing and sampling. Hani has excellent leadership quality (he currently leads the Fluid Evaluation and Sampling Technology team for Shell). Hani is married to Mrs. Mona and has two young children.

We look forward to your input and responses for this important matter.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ezzat Abouleish
President of EAS Board of Directors

NOVEMBER PICNIC

The November Picnic was a smashing success. The announcement of the engagement of Miss Yousra, the daughter of Dr. Ibrahim Abou-sayed, to Mr. Mohamed Islam El-Kadi was a pleasant surprise. And the cake for this special occasion was the icing for the meeting. The Board and members extend their congratulations to Yousra and Mohamed and both families.
