November EAS get-together‏‏

Dear Members and Friends of the EAS

Our function this month will be on Saturday, the 20th at

La Griglia Restaurant
2002 West Gray, Houston, TX

The theme of the evening will be "Nostalgia Night," so please bring one picture (one per person) about old or modern Egypt that is special to you to share with us.

The cost of the dinner is $45.00 per person.

We have not had a function for three months, so we thought we could treat ourselves a little bit.

This function is for adults and children 12 years and older. If you have little ones, please make arrangements to leave them home and take the night off to join us.

Social hour and registration starts at 6:30 p.m.
The dinner and program start at 7:15 p.m.

Please RSVP, whether you are coming or not, to aeltaher@hotmail.com. We would like to hear from you in either case.

We are only three members left on the EAS Board, so we count on your full cooperation to make this function a success. Please be prompt, and have your check or the exact cash amount for your party ready (NO credit cards ). Again, RSVP as early as you can, as this helps us coordinate with the restaurant.

Please write your name on the back of your picture and kindly hand it to Tarek Ghazi as soon as you walk in. He volunteered to scan the pictures and project them for all to enjoy, and needs time to prepare everything.

The EAS Board is eager and looking forward to seeing all of our members and friends for an evening of fun and surprises.

Call for Nominations for Board

Dear friends of the Egyptian American Society,

As we draw to the end of the year, I wanted to reflect with everyone for a moment on what it means to have an Egyptian American Society. Many of us have known eachother for many years, and our first encounters have been in events that have been hosted by our organization. We live in a city that is very diverse, but within this diversity is a large number of us who trace our heritage as Egyptians. It is so important that as a group, we exemplify what it means to be Egyptian Americans. From the music we listen to, the food we eat, the jokes we make, the company we keep...it all is about us being Egyptians, and that must continue on.

We are at a time when we are going to ask everyone to nominate individuals to be on the board. It's important for us to have a board that continues the mission of the Egyptian American Society. We are seeking individuals who will devote some time to continue on the tradition of growing our great organization. Please direct your nominations to Ayman at aeltaher@hotmail.com and keep in mind we are not asking for nominations for specific positions on the board...just board members, which will number five in total.

We continue to ask all of you to participate as much as you can, as in the end of the day, this organization is about you and what you make of it.

Thank you in advance,

Sherif Zaafran, MD
President, Egyptian American Society
