WE ARE PROUD OF ...

This is the first of what we hope will be a series that aims to intruduce and acknowledge EAS member achievements, so as to give the Society the good image it deserves and encourage our members, especially the younger ones, to excel. This month Dr Ezzat wishes to introduce Dr. Kadreya Abou-Sayed.

Dr. Kadreya Abou-Sayed started her career with British Petroleum in 1985 in Deepwater Technology unit and is currently the Early Production Project Leader for BP Sakhalin Development Unit. She brings a wealth of experience having spent the last 20 years advancing concepts and project development in the deepwater frontier, with experience spanning from when deepwater was just greater than 1,500 feet to its current defined depth of greater than 10,000 feet. She has made major contributions to the efforts in appraisal excellence, standardization, project integration and assurance and has been instrumental in the sanctioning of several deepwater projects for BP and its respective partners, such as Pompano, Mars, Ursa, Crosby and Atlantis. She is uniquely positioned within the deepwater community as she has both deep technical and commercial strengths. Her ability to integrate her experience in floating systems with subsurface, economics and planning will uniquely position her for delivering THE SOCIETY OF THE PETROLEUM ENGINEERS sectional audiences insightful recap of strategic and technical aspects of this challenging but promising area. This year Dr. Kadreya was elected to be THIS YEAR'S DISTINGUISHED LECTURER OF THE SOCIETY OF THE PETROLEUM ENGINEERS. She visited, gave presentations, and received awards from allover the world. This photo is an example as she was receiving the highest award from The Indian Society. We, The Egyptian American Society at Houston, congratulate Dr. Kadreya Abou-Sayed and are proud of her.

EAS Meeting on May 19th

Our meeting on May 19th was great and successful; we enjoyed a wonderful dinner; we enjoyed Dr. Sherif Zaafaran's attention-grabbing presentation; and finally, celebrated our graduating children and youths who were awarded certificates and gifts. The food from Magdy Qotb's restaurant Medditerraneo was delicious as ever. We thank Dr. Sherif for his presentation that attracted the attentions of all attendees, followed by a Q&A session; by popular demand we have attached the presentation here. We congratulate all of our children and youths who are graduating this year as well as their proud parents, and wish all a successful next year and for ever.

Please mark your calendar for our next meeting, after a short summer break, on August 19th. Meanwhile please keep in touch and keep asking about your Egyptian friends in Houston and families in Egypt . We will continue updating our news and announcements on the Society's web site;
http://easathouston.blogspot.com/.

One more reason to keep your eyes on the web site is that, soon, we will put the pictures Nancy Mostafa took during the meeting for all attendees. Thank you Nancy for the great effort. Also, job opportunities as arise will be posted there (check this month, you may qualify).

Rokaya and Egypt

This is a nice visio-poetic contribution from Ms. Rokaya Elfahl, expressing her love and afection for Egypt.

As the presentation file is rather big, the best way to see the presentation is to click on the link (the picture below), save the presentation file on your desktop, then open it.
