EAS November Meeting and New Board

The Society meeting on November 22 was exciting and eventful. Close to 100 members, families and friends attended the meeting at Cafe Layal. The meeting started with a social and dinner, followed by an informative talk by Dr. Abouleish on "Historic Mosques, Churches, and Synagogues of Egypt."

As required by the Society's bylaws, the meeting culminated with the election of a new Board members for Society for the following two years (2009-2010). The chair of the election committee, Dr. Mohammed Sabbahi, introduced the nominees, who presented their visions on the future of the Society. Dr. Sabbahi presided over the voting process, and, at the end of the meeting, announced the election results, as follows:

Dr. Abou-Sayed gave his acceptance speech on behalf of the elected Board, where he commended Dr. Abouleish and the current Board for their efforts to advance the Society. Dr. Abou-Sayed also emphasized the non-sectarian nature of the EAS and asked for assistance from all members of the society in pushing forward the Society's agenda and mission for the next two years.

the Board encourages all Egyptian Americans living in Greater Houston to join the Society and show solidarity for the wellfare of the community and mother land.

Obituary

With great sorrow, we have received the news that Mr. Bill Nash, the husband of our sister Wigdan, has passed away. The EAS Board would like to extend their sincere condolences to the surviving family members.

We would also like to extend our sincere condolences to Suzy Mustafa for the passing away of her sister Hoda, and wish for her and her sister's surviving family the patience in coping with the great loss.

May Allah bless the souls of the deceased and reward them for their good deeds.
